Purpose of the role:

  • Optimise database design and operation
  • Optimise store procedures
  • Write stored procedures/views
  • Rollback and Disaster Recovery management
  • Ensure high DB availability
  • Contribute to planning meetings, documentation and testing
  • Work towards a long-term Data warehousing solution based on SQL server 2016 Enterprise
  • Support and update existing products
  • Manage the design, delivery and continuous improvement of IT solutions across the organization in support of increasing the organization’s levels of automation and innovation.
  • Collaborate with various operational departments
  • Ensure efficacy of IT solutions, utilizing a variety of technical tools
  • Develop, adapt, deliver and document software solutions
  • Take full responsibility of tasks and projects assigned and make the necessary corrections to bring these projects into alignment with business expectation.
  • Undertake necessary corrections to ensure that all projects are aligned with business expectations
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement of internal coding standards
  • Ensure that stakeholders are kept appraised of software project deliverables and deadlines
  • Convey and train stakeholders on the effectiveness of delivered software
  • Mentor Junior and intermediate developers


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Matric with excellent Math’s Grade
  • B.Sc. Computer Science/National Diploma in IT
  • Experience in designing/optimising MSSQL Databases.
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in a commercial environment
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in MSSQL – all aspects
  • Advanced SQL skills and query writing skills
  • Optimisation and fine tuning all aspects of MSSQL


Skills Required:

  • Solid understanding of big data manipulation methodology
  • Solid time management and communication skills essential
  • Driver’s license and own transport essential
  • Willing to work extended hours
  • Ability to work under pressure
