Environment:

A Durban based client is looking for a responsible and driven Data Engineer to join their dynamic database team. The successful Data Engineer will be required to collect, store, process and analyse big datasets which also includes maintaining, implementing and monitoring data solutions.

 

Purpose of role:

  • Identify, select and integrate Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide real-time analytics
  • Implementing ETL processes
  • Define data retention policies
  • Monitor data performances and advise on necessary infrastructure changes
  • Optimise data processes through automation
  • Liaise with internal and external teams
  • Supervise junior data administrators

 

Experience Required:

  • IT degree or equivalent
  • 3 years’ experience working on rational databases
  • Strong ETL (SSIS advanced)
  • NoSQL databases experience
  • Hadoop big data platforms experience
  • Processing framework and querying tools like Impala, Hive, etc.
  • Exposure to JAVA, C# or Python, SAS or R Programming languages
